Base Leader John Parsons has a long history with YWAM Philippines: He took on National Leadership responsibilities around 2003 (handing it over to Aurelio Loseo in 2005 at a staff conference in Baguio). Earlier involvement in the 1990s–2000s during key growth periods of the national ministry. Angie Parsons has been part of YWAM Philippines for decades, with mentions alongside early workers in the Baguio and national teams (e.g., in historical accounts from the 1970s–1980s era alongside figures like Ross & Margaret Tooley, Kel Steiner, and others). Together, they lead the Baguio base today, focusing on discipleship, training, and missions in Northern Luzon.

YWAM Baguio (Baguio Training Center) was pioneered/founded in 1972.

It is the first permanent YWAM base in the Philippines and the location of Asia’s first Discipleship Training School (DTS).

  • Early Focus: Ministry to students, a preschool, and outreach from Baguio into mountain areas (e.g., Ifugao, Benguet, Mountain Province) as well as other parts of the country. Indigenous churches were also planted in squatter communities and among tribal peoples.
  • Context in YWAM Philippines: This was an early milestone after the first YWAM teams arrived in the Philippines around 1968. Baguio served as a foundational hub from which the broader national ministry expanded.

Current address: #1 Maryhills, Loakan Proper, Baguio City, 2600, Philippines (P.O. Box 229). It continues as an active training center focused on discipleship, evangelism, and missions.
